Assessment

Presenting issues you want to work on
Any background information that might be relevant to your issues and therapeutic process
Your goals for therapy and what you’d like to get out of the process
Psychotherapy
1:1 psychotherapy is a collaborative process between therapist and client that includes exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours that might be contributing to presenting issues, and working to create changes in these areas using various therapeutic interventions.
Areas of focus and experience include:
Depression and Mood Disorders
PTSD and Complex PTSD (relational and developmental trauma)
Anxiety Disorders
Chronic stress
Burnout
Emotional overwhelm and self-regulation
Managing life transitions (divorce/separation, aging, retirement, career change)
Spiritual and existential crisis
Relationship issues
Specialized Counselling Services
1:1 specialized counselling services for the following issues:
Psychiatric Drug Discontinuation Syndrome
(Antidepressant, Benzodiazapine and Antipsychotic Drug Withdrawal)
Withdrawal symptoms from psychiatric drugs can be debilitating and distressing to the individual experiencing them and to the loved ones who are supporting them. While time is needed for the symptoms to resolve, the counselling I offer can help you learn how to identify symptoms and learn how to manage your response to them. Counselling can also help you identify how stress and other external factors may have an impact on your symptoms. Because those experiencing withdrawal often feel alone in their struggles, having personalized support and regular touch points with someone who understands what it can be like can also help you feel less alone as you work through this challenging experience.
Antidepressant Tapering Support
If you have been taking an antidepressant and are contemplating stopping it, counselling can address the psychological and emotional aspects involved with this process. Common issues people experience when considering stopping an antidepressant are how to manage their emotions and fears around managing anxiety and mood issues without the help of the drug. Counselling can help in developing skills to manage these issues and in building greater emotional resiliency.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for INSOMNIA (CBT-I)
CBT-I is an evidence-based treatment effective in resolving Insomnia Disorder. It uses a variety of cognitive and behavioural interventions specifically targeted at building a better capacity to have consistent and restorative sleep. This is offered as a short-term treatment that begins with an assessment for Insomnia Disorder, followed by a personalized treatment plan.
